General information on data processing when visiting our website

1. content

This cookie information describes how and why we collect, process and use personal and other data when you use our website, in particular in connection with cookies and similar technologies. We also describe data processing in connection with social media.

Further information on our handling of personal data can be found in our privacy policy.

2. explanations of the terms

"Personal data" is information that can be linked to a specific person. We process various categories of such personal data. The most important categories are listed below for your guidance. However, we may also process other personal data in individual cases.

2.1 Log data

Every time you use our website, certain data is automatically generated for technical reasons and is temporarily stored in log files, the so-called log data. This includes the following technical data, for example:

  • IP address of the requesting end device,
  • Information about your Internet service provider,
  • Information about the operating system of your end device (tablet, PC, smartphone, etc.),
  • Details of the referring URL,
  • Information on the browser used,
  • Date and time of access, and
  • content accessed when visiting the website.

This data is processed for the purpose of enabling the use of our website (establishing a connection) and ensuring its functionality, guaranteeing system security and stability and enabling the optimization of our Internet offering as well as for statistical purposes. The IP address is also evaluated together with the other log data and any other data we may have in the event of attacks on the IT infrastructure or other potentially unauthorized or abusive use of the websites for clarification and defense and, if necessary, used in the context of criminal proceedings for identification and for civil and criminal proceedings against the persons concerned.

2.2 Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are files that your browser automatically saves on your end device when you visit our website. Cookies contain a unique identification number (an ID) that enables us to distinguish individual visitors from others, but generally without identifying them. Depending on the purpose of use, cookies contain further information, e.g. about pages accessed and the duration of the visit to a page. We use session cookies, which are deleted when the browser is closed, and persistent cookies, which remain stored for a certain period of time after the browser is closed (usually between a few days and two years) and are used to recognize visitors on a subsequent visit.

We may also use similar technologies such as pixel tags, fingerprints and other technologies to store data in the browser. Pixel tags are small, usually invisible images or program code that are loaded by a server and thereby transmit certain information to the server operator, e.g. whether and when a website was visited. Fingerprints are information that is collected when you visit a website via the configuration of your end device or your browser and that make your end device distinguishable from other devices. Most browsers also support other technologies for storing data in the browser, similar to cookies, which we may also use (e.g. "web storage").

3. deactivation of cookies and similar technologies

"Personal data" is information that can be linked to a specific person. We process various categories of such personal data. The most important categories are listed below for your guidance. However, we may also process other personal data in individual cases.

As we only serve customers from Switzerland and want to optimize your user experience, we do not use a cookie banner that asks for your consent. According to the Swiss Data Protection Act, this is not required. However, you can configure your browser settings to block certain cookies or similar technologies or to delete existing cookies and other data stored in the browser. You can also add software (so-called "plug-ins") to your browser that blocks tracking by certain third parties. You can find out more about this in the help pages of your browser (usually under the heading "Data protection"). Please note that our website may no longer function to its full extent if you block cookies and similar technologies.

Depending on the browser you are using, you will find instructions on how to manage cookies here.

4. use of cookies and similar technologies

The cookies and similar technologies we use may originate from us or from third-party companies, e.g. if we use functions provided by third parties. Such third-party providers may also be located outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area (EEA). You can find out more about this in section 6.

For example, we use analytics services to evaluate how you use our website in order to optimize and personalize it. Cookies and similar technologies from third-party providers also enable them to target you with personalized advertising on our websites or on other websites and social networks that also work with this third party and to measure how effective advertisements are (e.g. whether you have reached our website via an advertisement and what actions you then perform on our website).

Third-party providers may record the use of the website in question. These recordings can be linked by the respective provider with similar information from other websites. The behavior of certain users can thus be recorded across several websites and several end devices. The respective provider can often also use this data for its own purposes, e.g. for personalized advertising on its own website and on other websites that it supplies with advertising. If users are registered with the provider, the provider can assign the usage data to the person concerned. The processing of such personal data is carried out by the provider under its own responsibility and in accordance with its own data protection provisions.

6. notes on the use of external Google services

For the European area, the company Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland) is responsible for all Google services.

Google also processes your data in the USA, among other places. We would like to point out that, in the opinion of the European Court of Justice, there is currently no adequate level of protection for data transfers to the USA. This may entail various risks for the legality and security of data processing.

Google uses so-called standard contractual clauses as the basis for data processing with recipients based in third countries (outside the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, i.e. in particular in the USA) or data transfer to these countries. Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are templates provided by the EU Commission and are intended to ensure that your data complies with European data protection standards even if it is transferred to third countries (such as the USA) and stored there. Through these clauses, Google undertakes to comply with the European level of data protection when processing your relevant data, even if the data is stored, processed and managed in the USA. These clauses are based on an implementing decision of the EU Commission. Standard clauses already approved under the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are recognized by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

For data transfers to the USA, there is also an adequacy decision by the European Commission, the so-called Privacy Shield. Google participates in the Privacy Shield and has submitted to its requirements.

You can find more information about Google's data protectionat here. You can find more information about Google's SCC at here.

We have the right, but not the obligation, to check content before or after it is published and to delete content without notification, insofar as this is technically possible, or to report it to the provider of the platform in question. In the event of a breach of the rules of decency and conduct, we may also report the relevant user account to the provider of the platform for blocking or deletion.

When you visit our social media sites, data (e.g. on your user behaviour) may also be transmitted directly to the relevant provider or collected by them and processed together with other data already known to them (e.g. for marketing and market research purposes and to personalize platform content).
